A Brief History of the Mill Building

The Mill Building was originally called 'Prince Edward Mills', and was
established in 1838.  The building that exists today is a combination of two buildings.  The original mill burnt down in 1933, and was rebuilt.  In 1933 the 100-foot tall grain elevator was added, and was one of the tallest grain elevators in Virginia's Heartland, at the time. Today, the grain elevator is still one of the tallest structures in Farmville.

The Mill Building Today

The upper floors of the Mill Building are prime office rental space, and accommodate several area businesses.

The High Bridge Trail

The newest State Park in Virginia, High Bridge Trail State Park, a 33-mile rails-to-trails linear park, runs through Farmville, with a section running right next to the Mill Building.

A College Town

Farmville is a college town, with Longwood University at its center and Hampden- Sydney College just south of town, so it has a youthful spirit, with cafés and coffee shops lining Main Street and the back streets of the historic district.
